Overview

The M.A. is a two and a half year, 52-credit program offering a basic theological education, providing graduates with a solid foundation in biblical studies, church history, theology, and personal and spiritual formation. Students meet on a one-night-per-week schedule as part of a cohort of up to 27 students for the first two years. One additional term is needed to complete other required courses and Field Education requirements. It is intended primarily for lay persons. Traditionally, it is the degree preferred by those going on to Ph.D. studies or a teaching profession. A capstone Research Seminar is required of all those enrolling in this degree program. A thesis option is available with faculty approval. NES Catalog

Cooperative Degree Program

NES has a Cooperative Degree Program with the Master of Social Work Program at Roberts Wesleyan College. Qualified students may complete both the M.A. and the MSW degree in a time shortened manner. This is an exceptional program for individuals considering a social work ministry in a church or faith-based setting. (See Cooperative Degree Programs with RWC.) Click here for more information on the Roberts’ accredited MSW program. Students must apply and be accepted to both institutions.

"...the one thing God wants of us is that we should empty ourselves of all our own things, in order that we may depend on Him for everything; we should discover that His purpose is to bring us to the place where we have nothing apart from Him."
