Kurzweil 3000

The Kurzweil 3000 scan and read system that is a revolutionary piece of technology that is available for student use through the office of the Learning Center. Approved students may use the Kurzweil to scan academic text documents, textbooks or novels and have them read out loud. Students can select a variety of options including print size, reading rate, color for highlighter, and male or female voice. Prior to independent use, students must complete a 30minute training session. Once trained students can access this equipment from several computer labs on campus.

Among its features is the ability to:

improve comprehension rate and reading rate
improve attention and focus
significantly magnify text size and clarity
enhance word usage through its dictionary, thesaurus, pronunciation, and syllabication guide
