This is the Roberts Advantage
Virtually every college and university says its students enjoy success. But not every college and university sees success the way we do. This is the Roberts Advantage - and it's why you really should attend college here with us.
By the Numbers
Roberts students definitely can measure their success "by the numbers." For example, nearly 90 percent of the College's graduates are gainfully employed within seven months - and 91 percent of those grads are working in their field of study. Three in 10 are accepted into an advanced degree or professional program - that figure is nine in 10 for Natural Sciences and Mathematics graduates.
As an institution, Roberts - located outside one of America's most livable cities - enjoys its own measures of success: We've been named to Kiplinger's Personal Finance 2010-2011 Best Values in Private Colleges. U.S. News & World Report rates us one of the nation's best regional colleges. And the Princeton Review consistently ranks Roberts among the top colleges in the Northeast. Another Kind of Success
But the College - whose overall mission is based on the triad principles of scholarship, spiritual formation, and service - makes possible another, perhaps more essential, kind of success.
"Yes, Roberts Wesleyan graduates are working as doctors, lawyers, ministers, professors, writers, teachers, nurses, musicians and business executives," says Mary Flaherty, Director of Career Services at Roberts. “Most importantly, all of our graduates are equipped to live their lives in consideration of others, with sharp minds to meet the world’s most difficult challenges and big hearts to meet the needs of the world.”
“In short,” Flaherty says, “Roberts Wesleyan graduates are making the world a better place. What could be a greater measure of success?”
The foundations for this success are developed in an “intentionally Christian” campus environment that both expects and enables high academic achievement. Through high-quality educational programs, the nurturing of an informed Christian worldview, and opportunities to serve (here and abroad), Roberts Wesleyan prepares thoughtful, responsible, spiritually mature, service-oriented people whose success isn’t just quantitative but qualitative as well.
This Christ-centered, holistic approach to learning is across all academic programs at Roberts. You’ll find business students who are both savy and ethical; future nurses and doctors whose depth of knowledge is matched only by their compassion for their patients; future teachers who are both masters of their subjects and solid role models for their students.
Getting Better All the Time
Roberts new academic programs include a three-year Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) curriculum plan for undergraduate social work majors, and an online master's degree program in the growing field of Health Information Administration.
Roberts offers innovative undergraduate majors like Economic Crime Investigation, which blends courses from criminal justice, accounting and computer science. Our Global Education Program grows each year, with new places to discover and greater understanding to be gained.
The Athletics Department has added men's and women's intercollegiate lacrosse teams, and we expect to be elevated to NCAA Division II status for all 16 sports programs. Also, the Voller Athletic Center (VAC) recently got new hardwood and synthetic surface flooring, plus bleachers, basketball goals and a scoreboard.
In addition to our exceptional undergraduate degree programs, Roberts is a recognized leader in adult and professional studies. Several of our academic programs are offered online. And a growing number are offered at Roberts "extension" sites around Rochester and Western New York.
Our remarkable new B. Thomas Golisano Library - a state-of-the-art facility that has received numerous awards over its short life - is only the latest in a procession of new College "assets" that have made an excellent institution even better.
It All Adds Up
From new academic programs, to the new men's and women's lacrosse teams, to the award-winning Golisano Library, Roberts ensures students get the most out of their college investment, whether studying on campus, online or overseas. This happens at a college rich with heritage, heart, and innovation - near the City of Rochester, N.Y., which Newsday places among the "top six college towns worth visiting."
It all adds up to the best education, the best experience, and the best kind of success. This is the Roberts Advantage.
